Winter Memories

Snowflakes dance across the sky,
Ice stares daringly into my eyes.
I am reminded of a time long ago,
when we raced each other across the road ---
Who could slide further, who could go fast,
Who could look cuter as they looked back.
I slipped, and I tumbled, and I fell on my back.
You laughed, you laughed, you laughed.
I smiled and coyly, you helped me to my feet.
So, I leaned in and kissed your wind chapped lips -
and flirtatiously I whispered 'okay, you win.'
Walking away I felt a push to my side,
I slipped, and I tumbled, and I fell on my back.
You laughed, you laughed, you laughed.
But this time was different,
the look in your eyes,
you layed down beside me, a tear in your eye.
You told me you loved me, and grabbed my face,
you kissed me hours, you kissed me for days.
Cold from the snow, the wind, and the ice -
You walked me home, and said goodnight. ---
Snowflakes dance across the sky,
tears are streaming from my eyes.
